Raj Chandra Bose was acknowledged at this event as a past recipient of the AIA Honor Award. Other notable past recipients included Ravi Shankar, Gobind Behari Lal, and Ali Akbar Khan; the 1978 recipients were Ved Mehta, Rustum Roy, and Milton B. Singer.
