Letter dated June 16, 1998 from Governor Jim Edgar recognizing Fazlur Khan for his contributions to the city of Chicago. Fazlur Khan, an architect and engineer, designed the Sears Tower. In the letter, Edgar writes, "The innovate technologies that Mr. Khan utilized in designing the Sears Tower have been an inspiration to engineers around the world and have truly revolutionized sky scraper construction. June 16, 1998 Greetings: As Governor of the State of Illinois, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Mr. Fazlur R. Khan as he is recognized for his contribution to the city of Chicago. The Sears Tower is a world renowned, architectural masterpiece that we are proud to have in Chicago’s skyline. The innovative technologies that Mr. Khan utilized in designing the Sears Tower have been an inspiration to engineers around the world and have truly revolutionized sky scraper construction. I would like to extend my best wishes to Mr. Khan and his family on this very special recognition ceremony.
