Oral History Interview with Sridhar Venkatapuram
DESCRIPTION
Dr. Sridhar Venkatapuram is a health policy & ethics scholar, and a Senior Lecturer in Global Health and Philosophy at King's College in London, England. He grew up in Minneapolis, went to Brown University for his undergraduate degree, received an MPH from Harvard University, and eventually completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge, under the guidance of Amartya Sen. In his oral history interview, Sridhar describes how he started working at the intersection of HIV/AIDS and human rights, his time with South Asian AIDS Action in the early 1990s, and how his experiences led him to develop a framework for health as a human right, using HIV/AIDS as a case study. Sridhar identifies as a gay South Asian male.
