DESCRIPTION
The Summer/Fall 1997 issue of SAMAR (No. 8), subtitled "Organizing by Any Means Necessary," addressed activist movements, with a special attention to Organizers in the San Francisco Bay Area, South Asian domestic workers, and the Bhopal campaign. The issue included contributions from Ward Morehouse, Raka Ray, Nahar Alam, Chandana Mathur, Balmuri Natrajan, Brian Larkin, Shampa Banerjee, Jacob Levitch, Kamal Quadir, Kathry Hansen, Tehreema Mitha, Sanda Lwin, Promita Sengupta, Iftikhar Nasim, and Manoo Leelawat-Rahming. Also included was an interview with Pakistani human rights lawyer Zia Awan by Chandana Mathur and S. Shankar, an interview with Indian actress Shabana Azmi by Chandana Mathur and Anannya Bhattacharjee, as well as photographs contributed by Raghubir Singh.
