Jogesh Chander Misrow, "East Indian Immigration on the Pacific Coast" (1915)
DESCRIPTION
Completed in 1915 at Stanford University, “East Indian Immigration on the Pacific Coast” is the Master’s thesis of Jogesh Chander Misrow. Born in Calcutta, Misrow served as an interpreter for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization service (INS). Misrow attended the University of Washington, and later received an M.A. at Stanford. The thesis, Misrow writes, was based partially on the experience he gained as the official Hindustani interpreter for the INS between 1910-1914, as well as investigations made among East Indian workers and their employees in California in 1912. Misrow also used British Indian documents, and U.S. Immigration Commision reports.
