The United States of India (April 1924)
DESCRIPTION
The April 1924 issue of the United States of India (Vol. 1, No. 9) published from the headquarters of the "Pacific Coast Hindustani Association" at No. 5 Wood Street, San Francisco featured an article by M.N. Roy, founder of the Socialist Party of Mexico and member of the Comintern. The essay, titled "India and the British Labor Government," traces the effects of the British Labor Party coming into power on India and the rest of the British imperial sphere. The opening editorial draws connections between the U.S. and India: "American history is being repeated in India. Today India is a poor, weak, and subjected country. She is practically England's private property," and later, "Americans, do not think for a moment that it is none of your business if England exploits the heathen Hindoos."
